Ai Sasaki "GOLDEN" 20th.Dec.2008-8th.Feb.2009
graf media gm is proud to present "GOLDEN" by Ai Sasaki from Dec 20,2008 thru Feb 8,2009. Ai Sasaki has long explored the fundamental universe of our people through family history and its tales, while presenting her work through 3D objects constructed with sugar and wall paintings, which abound in imageries of houses, boats and mountains. In this show, she will present drawings and paintings based on her artist-in-residence experiences both domestic and abroad, through the process of connecting the local landscape she encountered and her own internal one. During her residency in New Zealand, leading up to this exhibition, she recounted an extraordinary sensation where she felt the mountains and forests radiating in a somewhat golden way. Hence the exhibition title "GOLDEN", while it could represent the "golden-ness" she felt from the mountains and forests, but could also express a universe far "superior" and yet something even more.
